Each month, Goldfish Swim Schools across North America come together to celebrate one common thing – our monthly celebration! We get to hand out special themed-prizes, decorate the schools to fit the theme, and have fun incorporating it into our day-to-day swim lessons.

This month, we’re celebrating the colors of the rainbow! Not only is it perfect timing to line up with St. Patrick’s Day earlier this month, but it’s also the perfect time to think about how colors of the rainbow can be (and should be!) incorporated into your spring and summer break packing list!

🏖️ Get Ready for Spring and Summer Adventures

We can almost feel the sand between our toes, sunshine on our skin and the pure joy that comes with taking a break from reality and spending quality time with your family. As you pack your bags to head out, you’re double checking that everything the kiddos may need is right there in the bag.

✅ PJs? Check!

A bright, colorful swimsuit for their water adventures? Double check!

🎨 Why Choosing the Right Swimsuit Matters

Swimsuit shopping for your kiddo is not just about fun patterns and designs (though those are important, too!). It’s also about being sure you’re choosing one that’s easy to spot in the water.

🌸 Opt for Bright and Visible Colors

Lean towards bright colors like pinks, oranges or yellows, like those first few colors in the rainbow! Think about it… the brighter their suit and the easier it is to spot, the faster you (and a lifeguard!) can find them in the water.

🚫 Avoid Hard-to-See Colors

Though we know there are lots of other shades on the shelves, some just aren’t ideal for time in the water. While blue or green may remind you of that beautiful ocean water or be your little one’s favorite color, it’s not the right choice for swimwear. These colors tend to blend in with the water, making it harder to spot them! Darker colors like deep purples or blacks, or even bright white, can give your eyes a hard time, too!

🧵 Swimsuit Shopping Tips for Maximum Safety and Comfort

Choosing the right color is just the tip of the iceberg! Once you’ve pulled some great options, here’s a few more things that are helpful to think about…

  • UV Protection: For our little fish with sensitive skin, choosing a suit with UV protection is a great option. You can even grab a long sleeve swim top to make sure they’re covered and not catching too many rays! But don’t forget, the top should be just as easy to spot as a classic swimsuit!
  • Comfort with Life Jackets: If you’re heading out on the boat or to the ocean and know your kiddo will need to wear a Coast Guard-approved life jacket, be sure the swimsuit you’re picking fits comfortably underneath it and won’t rub or pull at your kiddo’s skin!
  • Choose the Right Fit: Swimsuits that are too loose can be uncomfortable and may make it harder for kids to swim, restricting their full range of motion. To try and avoid any distractions while in the water, choosing a snug fit ensures your kiddo is comfortable and ready to make a splash!

🌊 Bright Swimsuits: A Fun and Safe Choice

As we celebrate the colors of the rainbow this March, let’s not forget how much fun – and safe – a bright, colorful swimsuit can make your child feel! So, head out to your local store or shop online for that perfect vibrant swimsuit that will carry your little one through the spring and summer months in (safe) style!

Here’s to making a splash this season with swimsuits that are as bright and bold as your kiddo’s love for the water!
